The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has been factionalised following alleged irregularities observed by a waring group known as the True Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)
The chairman of the faction, Hon. Bilyaminu Aliyu Badarawa said the fractionalization was informed by the irregularities in the party.
He said it became imperative to form the new True PDP in Zamfara because of the deterioration of the party under the factional chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani and the way he handled the party
Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, the chairman of the emerging faction, Alhaji Bilyaminu Aliyu Badarawa explained that the leadership of the party in the state was not respectful of the opinions of the members, elders and other patrons of the party.
The chairman noted that the leadership of the faction had officially notified the northwest zone and the national headquarters of the party, pointing out that the faction has installed its exco members in the state, Local Government, 147 wards and 2516 polling units in the state.
“We have suffered to ensure that PDP excel in the state since inception, while some of the present leaders of the party were in the other political parties but unfortunately we were being neglected and uncared for.
He said that Tukur Danfulani has no time for party affairs as he is always travelling and when in town is always at the Government House instead of at the party secretariat.
He said statutory meetings and consultation with the party stakeholders are not being adhered to as stipulated in the PDP constitution, noting that he is not running the party affairs as it is supposed to be.
“Among our grievances was his untimely and unpopular decision to suspend the state PDP publicity secretary, Alhaji Farouq Umar Shettima Rijiya which indicates vividly lack of focus and capacity to lead the party. By expressing his opinion aimed at promoting the party, the publicity secretary has committed a grievous offence against them ”
“Due to the aforementioned, we resolve to form the new faction named “True PDP” to salvage the PDP and rescue it from total collapse”
But when contacted, the state secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Ibrahim Umar Dangaladima said the leadership of the party had no idea of any emerging faction in the party.
The scribe noted that he has not received any official letter from any group regarding forming a faction of the party in the state, stressing that the leadership of the party would investigate the matter and address the press.
