National President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle, yesterday, charged the new President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, to speak truth to power all times, saying Nigerians direly needed someone to liberate them.

He submitted that the skewed appointments in the land were dividing the country the more, even as Oke urged the government not to negotiate with bandits, but be decisive with them.

Also, Governor Seyi Makinde said Nigeria’s redemption would start from Oyo because the seventh presidents of PFN, CAN, and Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) all hail from the state.

They spoke during the thanksgiving service to mark Oke’s election at Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan.

The new PFN leader emerged on March 2 during the fellowship’s biennial convention in Enugu State.

In his sermon, titled: “Call to lead at a difficult time”, Ayokunle noted that some of the decisions and actions of the PFN president might hurt those close to him, but he should not fear, adding: “It is better to fear God than to fear any man.”

He said: “Those in authority have to be very careful because, by the position you hold, you will be justified. And by the decision you take, you will be condemned. It is a two-edged sword. It is time to see the appointments skewed in one direction. It is the skewed appointments that are polarising the nation. They are further dividing and separating us.”
