In its efforts to prevent a fire outbreak and reduce the hazardous effects of fire with proper protection knowledge, the General Officer commanding 3 division of the Nigerian Army and commander of operation safe (OSH) Plateau State, Major General IS Ali on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff Lt. General F Yahaya organized a “Fire Prevention and Management Sensitization Seminar” for men and women of the command and other Paramilitary formations.
Welcoming Participants at the 3-division auditorium maxwell khobe cantonment on 22nd November 2022, the Director of Supply and Transport, Army Headquarters, Brig Gen B. Ogunbumi, representing the Chief of Logistics Army Headquarters, stated that the seminar was apt as such called on participants to take the training seriously.
“The Event is significant as part of our chief of Army Staff Welfare, the essence of the exercise is to sensitize our personnel on how to prevent domestic fire especially as the dry season is here and as everywhere is dry as such the need to include the women as they are mostly responsible for the home front. Telling them what to do and what not to do in their various accommodation in the barracks.” Brig Gen Ogunbumi stated
In his opening remarks, the General Officer Commanding the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and commander of operation safe (OSH) Plateau State, Major General IS Ali, represented by the Chief of Staff 3 division of the Nigerian Army Brig. Gen David Kurmi, further stated that because of the season which is dry and comes with a lot of wind, it was essential that they learn how to prevent a fire outbreak.
Lectures were delivered by resource persons including, Brig General, MU Ikobah who talked on Contemporary approaches to Fire Safety Management as a Stimulus to optimal Fire response in the Nigerian Army and also a second lecture on Efficient Fire Prevention Skills as a Prerequisite to safety on Nigerian Army assets and personnel.
The high point of the seminar was the interactive session and presentation of souvenirs.
