Paul Onuachu was on target for Genk but it was not enough as they lost 3-1 away to Oostende, in the Belgian Jupiler on Wednesday, Completesports.com reports.
It was Onuachu’s 23rd goal in the league and 24th in all competitions for Genk in the current campaign.
Also, it was a return to scoring in the league after failing to find the back of the net in his side’s last two fixtures in the Belgian top-flight.
In action for Genk was Onuachu’s compatriot Cyriel Dessers who was replaced in the 64th minute.
Onuachu opened scoring in the 10th minute from the penalty spot to give his side the lead.
But a brace from Makhtar Gueye, both from the penalty spot on 22nd and 26th minutes and a 58th minute strike from Arthur Theate secured the win for Oostende.
The defeat saw Genk now occupy third position on 43 points behind leaders Club Brugge (60 points) and Royal Antwerp in second spot (47 points).

Sadiq gave Almeria the lead on eight minutes before Borja Barton equalised for Leganes on 48 minutes.
And in the 95th minute Omeruo scored what proved to be the winning goal which was also his first this season.
Sadiq’s goal took his tally in the league to 12 and 14 in all competitions this season for Almeria.
Leganes are in 4th place on 46 points and are behind Almeria who are in third place on 49 points.
And in the Saudi Arabia Pro League Odion Ighalo did not have the best of full debut for Al Shabab as they lost 2-1 at home to Al Fateh FC.
