Delta government says it is partnering with its communities to bring back the middle class so as to spread prosperity.

Mrs Bridget Anyafulu, Commissioner for Humanitarian and Community Support Services, made the declaration in Ebu Kingdom, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

This was when she visited the Onu of Ebu, Obi Paul Opili, to brief him about the ministry’s mandate of providing community support services.

“In line with the mandate of the ministry as regards community support services, we are reaching out to communities.

“This visit is to officially inform the traditional ruler of the ministry’s intention to conduct an enrolment exercise of the less-privileged and vulnerable persons so as to extend government’s assistance to them.

“We intend to work with persons involved in Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in partnership with community heads and also to conduct an audit of small holder farmers in the communities.

“This is with the view to helping them to grow their businesses,’’ she said.

On the issue of out-of-school children, the commissioner assured that government was poised to tracking them down and returning them to the classroom.

Responding, Obi Opili expressed gratitude to the state government for the gesture and promised to cooperate with it on policies designed to return prosperity to the people.
