President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Emmanuel Lyambee Jime as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council.
The appointment is for a renewable four-year tenure.
Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu made the announcement in a statement Thursday night.
Jime, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law, is expected to use his wealth of experience in the new role having distinguished himself in several public offices.
The appointee was formerly Managing Director of the Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA).
Jime was two-term member of the House of Representatives. He represented Makurdi/Guma Federal constituency of Benue between 2007 and 2015.
Jime was Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly from 1992 to 1993.
The Shippers Council provides a forum for the protection of the interest of shippers on matters affecting the shipment of imports and exports to and from Nigeria.
