Senate Chief Whip and Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has reacted to the military plane crash in Abuja on Sunday.

DAILY POST had reported that a military aircraft, King Air 350 crashed on Sunday morning on the runway of the Abuja airport.

However, the Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshall Ibikunle Daramola has disclosed that investigations into circumstances surrounding the crash have commenced.

Senator Kalu while reacting on Monday, in a statement, condoled with families of the Air force personnel who lost their lives in the crash.

Lamenting the unfortunate incident, Senator Kalu expressed sadness while calling for a detailed investigation into the incident to ascertain the cause to forestall a recurrence.

The ex-Abia Governor prayed to God to grant the departed personnel eternal rest and give their families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

“On behalf of the people of Abia North Senatorial District, I convey my sincere and heartfelt condolences to family members of the victims of the plane crash.

“It is indeed a devastating incident.

“The cause of the tragic crash must be duly investigated to forestall recurrence.

“The departed souls will be remembered for their service to the nation”.

In the same vein, the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye, has condoled with the leadership of the Nigeria Air force over the fatal crash of its aircraft.

In a terse statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Barrister Tex Okechukwu, Oye regretted the loss of lives in the crash and prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead personnel.

He called on the Chief of Air force to order an immediate investigation to unravel the remote cause of the unfortunate crash.
