A 200-level political science student of Abia State University, George Nnamdi has been arrested for faking his kidnap.

Nnamdi reportedly sent a text message to one of his friends around 3am on Thursday May 13, claiming that he was kidnapped by six men carrying AK-47 rifles alongside other three students. He however claimed that he was pranking his friend.

A 300-level Mass Communication student and friend of the suspect, Faith Godson said she alerted the University security after she received the text message, leading to the arrest of Nnamdi who was hiding in his lodge that is off the University campus.

Chief Security Officer of ABSU, ThankGod Evulobi who confirmed the incident disclosed that they received a distress call that a student has been kidnapped and swung into action only to discover that George Nnamdi faked his own kidnap.

Evulobi said appropriate action will be taken against the supposed victim in line with the rules and regulations guiding University.
